Fate.

What do you think of fate? Is it something that's absolute? Can you change it?

I want to know. I'm bored.

[identity profile] white-mathias.livejournal.com 2010-11-30 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's a strange thing to ask when you're bored.

[identity profile] white-mathias.livejournal.com 2010-11-30 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't expect most people to ask heavy questions like that for fun.

But to answer it, I'm not sure. There are somethings you can change and others you can't. I guess fate would depend on those things you can't change.

[identity profile] windsofdaytime.livejournal.com 2010-11-30 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you think can or can't be changed, then?

[identity profile] white-mathias.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I guess some things about yourself, what others think about you.

[identity profile] hiccup-ninja.livejournal.com 2010-11-30 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
...I think it depends on how much you want to change your fate. If one has no willpower to do so then nothing will change.

...But I'm just speculating.

[identity profile] hiccup-ninja.livejournal.com 2010-11-30 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
...I guess it doesn't. But I think what I meant was if you have the desire to change your fate, then fate no longer is absolute. Because people are a far more tangible force than it. So we are stronger than fate, in a way. It all depends on the will of the person in question.

...At least, that's what I beleive. I was able to change my fate.

[identity profile] flight-15.livejournal.com 2010-11-30 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm probably not the best person to talk to about this, but for myself? Nothing's absolute. There's no one out there predicting all the choices you make. Sure, stuff happens that you can't help. If fate's got to do with anything, maybe it's your circumstances. But there way you deal with them is up to you.

That's what you think?

[Ho boy where to even begin with this?]

No, it isn't absolute. You can change your fate. [He has to believe this because there's nothing else for him.]

Why do you say that? Fate is fate, isn't it?

[identity profile] son-of-time.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
'Fate' is the merely the most likely outcome.

But then it's just the same as everything else.

I don't hold with it.

[identity profile] windsofdaytime.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Why not?

[identity profile] flailingbento.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
...I think that some things are inevitable. Sometimes, when you meet someone, or when something happens-- sometimes it's fated. You can't predict it, and you can't keep it from happening. You just have to accept it.

You can't change what happens. But you can decide how it changes you.

[identity profile] flailingbento.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well... someone once explained to me that some things have to happen. They're fated. Inevitable. You can't change that they're going to happen. She told me that sometimes when you meet people, it's because you were fated to-- that sometimes you're connected to them before you even know it.

I don't know if she was right. But... I believe her.

[identity profile] windsofdaytime.livejournal.com 2011-01-21 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
Inevitability, then.

What if your fate is part of what you are?
